Michael J. Lavin

Michael J. Lavin, age 68, of Peoria, passed away on Thursday, January 5, 2017 at OSF Richard L. Owens Hospice Home in Peoria.

Mike was born on October 4, 1948 in Waukegan, IL to Albert J. and Betty L. (Carson) Lavin. He married Sydnie Marlin on October 7, 1972 in Bradford, IL.

Surviving are his wife, Sydnie; his children, Laurie (Grant) Grant of Lindenhurst, IL, Brock (Katie) Lavin of Germantown Hills, IL and Sarah (Jason) Norton of Peoria, IL; six grandchildren, Jack, Hannah, Zach, Colie, Hunter and Cohen; and two brothers, Chris Lavin of East Peoria, IL and Joseph Lavin of Florida. He was preceded in death by his parents.

After graduating from Richwood High School, Mike served in the U.S. Army and was stationed in Thailand during the Vietnam War. He owned Jack & Bill's Sporting Goods in Peoria for several years and later owned Bagley Brother's Insurance in Peoria. Mike was a member of the Elk's Lodge #20 in Peoria. He loved playing golf and fishing and especially spending time with his grandchildren.

Per Mike's request, there will be no service. Cremation rites will be accorded and a Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, January 21, 2017 from 2pm to 4pm at the Elk's Lodge #20 in Peoria.
